about

Running transcends physical exercise, it intertwines with our perceptions of culture and the environment. Through each stride, we engage with the world around us, becoming more attuned to the landscapes and communities we run through. This practice fosters a unique lens through which runners can view and address cultural and environmental issues.

The act of running in varied environments invites reflection on the spaces we inhabit. As our feet touch the ground, we’re reminded of our physical connection to Earth and the responsibility we have to care for Her.

Robin Wall Kimmerer’s call to action at the end of Braiding Sweetgrass is, “Whatever our gift, we are called to give it and to dance for the renewal of the world. In return for the privilege of breath.” Consider if we were to run for the renewal of the world and for the privilege of breath — those deep rhythmic breaths we take as we run through our cities and outdoor spaces.

Also, running is fucking fun. It is an affirmation of joy amidst struggle. It serves as both a personal journey and a communal celebration—allowing us to connect more deeply with ourselves, our fellow runners, and the land.

Welcome to this creative outlet where we discuss running — beyond the dominant culture norms and values of running — environmentalism, and culture.
